This is a required course for the Alternative Ministerial Education (A.M.E.) program of the Great Rivers Region, for all ordinations, and for minister with other backgrounds to have their ordination recognized by the American Baptist Churches (ABC).

You do not need to be an A. M. E. student to enroll. The required textbook is Down by the Riverside: a Brief History of Baptist Faith, by Everett C. Goodwin, available from Judson Press. Also highly recommended is The Baptist Identity: Four Fragile Freedoms, by Walter B. Shurden. You will be required to write an 8-page paper on some aspect of Baptist History or Polity, due 30 days after the class. Please specify in person or online.
