Region American Baptist Men Judson University project June 2-5

June 2 @ 8:00 am June 5 @ 5:00 pm CDT

Dear Pastors of the Great Rivers Region,

I am asking your help. The Baptist Men of the GRR have been doing projects at Judson University for many decades. This is our American Baptist University, and they are helping shape the next generation, https://www.judsonu.edu. Please read before passing this off to the Missions Director.

We are having a mission opportunity June 2-5 (Monday-Thursday). Bring a car or bus load of people This is an opportunity to support and help Judson. There are 3 ways you can assist.

1. We have specific needs for tradespeople or some handy people to tackle specific projects that Judson has. These are the tradespeople that we need, see below. If you know of some of these people in your congregation, please encourage them or bring them with you.

      Exterior Work

      1. Electricians (1-2 people)

      2. Carpenter, rough carpentry and forming concrete, (1-3 people)

      3. Concrete placement, (placement/ finishing 1-3 people)

      4. Landscape (general landscaping/ no limit of people or expertise)

      5. General Workers, no expertise needed, just a willing heart and great attitude

      Interior Work

1.Drywall installation (some minor carpentry work, drywall installation and repair/ no limit of people)

      2. Drywall mud and taping 1-3 people)

      3. Painting (general painting/ no limit of people)

      4. General Workers, no expertise needed, just a willing heart and great attitude

This opportunity for our men to come help Judson and have a special time with other men. We are encouraging Fathers to bring their sons or daughters. This time is very special with Judson and with the group participating. It is a great time of building relationships. There are specific needs, but there is plenty of work for everyone, 95% of the attendees don’t have construction skills but just want to participate and help. We are flexible, if they can only come for 2 days or a day, contact me.

2. Family Day is June 5 (Thursday). The men are encouraged to stay and help lead the projects on June 5. Last year we had a van load of men, women, and children come from Bloomington and we accomplished a lot of work. One of the goals is to get people on campus, learn about Judson, and complete some important projects for the University. My wife is bringing our granddaughter to teach and do missions. We will provide a tour of campus for those interested in learning more about Judson or haven’t seen the campus in the recent past.

3. I am asking the pastors to bring a car or van load of people. We have needs for some tradespeople, but there are projects for every skill level. All we need is a loving heart and willingness to help. I also want to create a time for the pastors to get together to discuss how to better connect our churches to Judson.

One of the positive things of a mission trip like this one is that the only cost is the transportation to Judson. Judson is covering the housing, and food. As we plan with Judson about the projects, they will need to do some prepping and planning. If you think this would be a fit, please email me or text me. Without knowing a general expertise and the number of people attending, it is difficult to plan appropriately. I understand things may change, but if you think you can bring or send some men, women, or families, contact me by April 14. This is not the final opportunity to sign up, but this will help in the planning part. Please join me in praying about men, women, or families that this mission project would benefit. Thank you for your attention and consideration.

Blessings
